About

At Croc’s Nest Bush Lodge, we understand that life takes each of us on different journeys, and for owner and host Chris, Croc’s Nest Bush Lodge is the best of these journeys, and the one place to come back to when the world gets too loud.

Born in the UK to adventure-loving parents, Chris’s childhood journey led him to Swaziland /eSwatini where his love of Africa took root. With a career spanning several decades in the travel industry, Chris has a wealth of experience in world travel, incuding top luxury safari destinations in South Africa and other African countries. Croc’s Nest is a representation of the best aspects of these experiences that Chris carries in his heart.

Built in 2022, Croc’s Nest was a Covid project – a time when travel was virtually impossible and every person across the globe was thrown into a time of deep reflection and introspection. In this time of imposed upheaval, some people took the time to embrace the things they valued most in life, and realized the importance of taking time out of the rush of modern life. For Chris, the African bush has always been a place of wonder and recalibration, and Croc’s Nest was inspired by the best aspects of past safari experiences and distilled into a space that is so personal and special, that it’s impossible to not immerse yourself fully in the legendary beauty and tranquility of the wild, and to relax into the ancient rhythms of nature.

For Chris, the African bush is so amazing that it should be something everyone can experience, and making Croc’s Nest available to guests around the world is his way of doing just that. Private, spacious and fully-equipped in a location that is hard to beat, this wild retreat’s irresistible lure keeps guests coming back for more. Where else can you enjoy Big 5 sightings in Kruger Park from your private deck, and tick a multitude of the 500 dazzling bird species in The Kruger off your list, without driving anywhere? It’s magical!
